Spiral galaxy with a loose array of dark dust lanes and an unusually compact, star-like nucleus. High galactic latitude, only 0.04 mag dust extinction. Inclined about 42°. Blue supergiants, Wolf-Rayet and Cepheid variables are resolved into stars starting at about 18th mag.

Blue supergiants, Wolf-Rayet and Cepheid variables are resolved into stars starting at about 18th mag., acquired with a remote telescope at Siding Springs Observatory, Australia (Elevation 3720')
